Good Bye - 2012

My goodness, where has the year gone.  I have been MIA most of this month, mainly due to all the comings and goings that the Holidays bring.  Not much time allowed into the sewing room (I would be hunted down when I would sneak off)...

Today I rewarded myself by spending most of the day at my sewing machine, even with a house full of kids.  For the best part of an hour this afternoon I had seven little angels running around, squealing, you know all the things little ones do.  The weather was wet and drippy all day so it meant, inside play.  Only one hick-up, what happens when you leave your machine to answer the door with a full house of sprites????

I have a feeling that my four year old was showing his buddy how it worked.  It only took me 30 minutes and a lot of patience to unwrap the knot of thread inside my machine.  Nothing seriously damaged.

Even with this set back I was able to finish a couple of receiving blankets, and a baby quilt top finished - start to boarder.

Christmas Banners

Christmas is here!!

Whipped up a few banners this week.

The red and green is 92" long from the first edge of pennant to the far edge of the last pennant.

The blue banner is 66" from first edge of pennant to the far edge of the last pennant.

Chenille-ing a blanket.

I was surfing the blogs and notice a different technique for a flannel baby blanket at Lil Mop Top.  I thought the basic process was cool, tweaked it (only a little) and gave it a go.  Now I am ripping out the binding for the 4 or 5th time.  I tried to do a different binding, involving no hand sewing, nope did not work for me, back to the whip stitching.  

As I sit her and wander the internet again I see that Dana over at Made also made a few....just too cute.

 My first craft booth was a success.  I displayed my crafts and a few of my kid's work at my children's first Fall Festival.  By the looks of things the festival was a great hit and I hope it will continue.  One thing I did learn from my first experience......I need a pop up canopy to shield from the sun.

There was a costume contest, cake walk, pumpkin painting, eats, music and lots of crafts.  Fun for all ages.  

Kid Wrist Wallet

Just the right size for your child's lunch money, a key, or spare change.  My children and their friends love these little wallets that velcro around their wrist, and they are hard to mislay.

 

Each is lined with a complimenting fabric, zipper closure and velco to attach around the wrist.  Washable, necessary for child wear.

I just could not help myself.  I was able to squeeze in a little sewing time and here are the latest two blankets added to my stash.

I am also trying to get the sewing room organized and was loving the feel and colors of my flannel collection.
