Baby Shower Gift for BF

My sweet friend is having her baby shower tomorrow.  Of course I wait till this afternoon to start making the quilt.  I had been tossing around ideas in my head all week but just had to sit down and start cutting to decide what the end product would be...

I ended up piecing a 'disappearing nine patch' out of flannel I had left over from other projects.  My friend is a scrappy kinda a girl and loves the eclectic.  I was able to boarder the quilt before time to whip up something for Dinner.
 

The D9P is my favorite quilt to piece, it is so easy but looks complicated.  

I love the little star pattern the boarder and backing...just shouts boy to me.  I just cannot wait to wee it when I have it all quilted.

Here is the topper, ready for a sandwich and quilting....got my work cutout for me tonight.

Good Bye - 2012

My goodness, where has the year gone.  I have been MIA most of this month, mainly due to all the comings and goings that the Holidays bring.  Not much time allowed into the sewing room (I would be hunted down when I would sneak off)...

Today I rewarded myself by spending most of the day at my sewing machine, even with a house full of kids.  For the best part of an hour this afternoon I had seven little angels running around, squealing, you know all the things little ones do.  The weather was wet and drippy all day so it meant, inside play.  Only one hick-up, what happens when you leave your machine to answer the door with a full house of sprites????

I have a feeling that my four year old was showing his buddy how it worked.  It only took me 30 minutes and a lot of patience to unwrap the knot of thread inside my machine.  Nothing seriously damaged.

Even with this set back I was able to finish a couple of receiving blankets, and a baby quilt top finished - start to boarder.

Monkey Business

Don't you just love these prints??  Monkeys, Giraffes, and Lions, Oh My!  

I just could not help myself.  I was able to squeeze in a little sewing time and here are the latest two blankets added to my stash.

I am also trying to get the sewing room organized and was loving the feel and colors of my flannel collection.
